About Scope Zambia
Discover our story, our values, and the journey behind SCOPE Zambia’s commitment to permaculture, sustainable learning, and resilient communities.
Our History
Background
SCOPE Zambia, established in 2016 by ReSCOPE, promotes sustainable development by integrating permaculture into schools and colleges. It equips learners with practical, locally relevant skills to drive long-term social, environmental, and economic transformation.
Earliest foundations
From the outset, SCOPE Zambia focused on turning sustainability into practical, lived experience through Integrated Land Use Design. Using demonstration sites, learning gardens, and participatory approaches, it supports institutions and communities in understanding the links between food systems, ecosystems, and livelihoods.
Evolution
Over time, SCOPE Zambia expanded beyond schools to community and landscape-level approaches, recognising that sustainability requires integrated systems. As climate pressures and land degradation intensified, it strengthened its focus on permaculture, agroecology, and ecological restoration as practical pathways to resilience.
